Cupcakes Anyone?

If you are anything like me, the thought of a pretty, sweet and decadent cupcake is enough to make your mouth water and your heart skip a beat. So when I spotted this next technique on the web the other day (I believe it was SIStv), I knew I had to try it.

If you’ve walked into your local bakery, craft or supermarket and wandered into the baking aisle, you might have noticed some new additions. Gone are the days when tin foil or pastel cupcake liners were the only choices available. Because of great women like Martha Stewart, there are some chic, new cupcake liners that are available to the masses. And since I’m on a diet, using them on my scrapbook pages and cards is a much better alternative to not buying them at all. gasp!

If you stretch your imagination, there’s a ton you could make with a cupcake liner. Fun matting behind chipboard elements, fan-like accents or even a little skirt, like I did on the card below:

To create this darling little skirt, I simply folded the cupcake liner in half and stapled it. Then I folded in a little more than 1/4 of one side of the liner into the middle and stapled that down as well. I even lifted it up a bit before I stapled so that the skirt took on a multi layered look. Finally, I adhered it behind my little “happy” sign and added a cute little Cosmo Cricket bunny that I hand cut and pop dotted onto a page from a vintage book. With the addition of a couple bunny hands on the sign and an American Crafts “thanks” rub-on placed on a speech bubble, you’ve got a cute thank you card for anyone who is young at heart!

Hugs,

Alexis
